Our expertise
In building our experienced team, we have invested primarily in senior staff with a mature outlook. This has given us a team that is confident to interact with staff at any level and has the knowledge to deliver a quality service. Our staff know the right questions to ask, know that listening skills are key and they have the experience and knowledge to evaluate the answers received.
As a not for profit organisation a significant proportion of our audit fees are invested in our staff, flowing back into the quality of the audit experience. In 2010/11 more than 85% of our turnover was invested in pay costs and training.
The team at Uniac consists of 17 professional members of staff with a complementary blend of professional qualifications and experience. Across Uniac, the average internal audit experience is almost ten years per person of which an average of six years is within the Higher Education Sector.
Uniac provides a structured programme of training for all staff in both our methodology and in developing the above core behavioural skills that we require.
Uniac has worked with external professionals to codify the competencies that we require in order to be successful. This process has highlighted core traits that might not historically have been associated with auditors: such as creative problem solving; teamwork; influencing; judgement and a drive for continuous improvement. These attributes guide our recruitment and development of staff and they set us and our staff apart.
