about Work at Uniac

Uniac is a great place to work.  We are always open to new ideas and better ways of doing things and we offer great staff development opportunities.

We currently have a vacancy for Head of Data Assurance.  The closing date for applications is on 16 August 2019.

Head of Data Assurance

Location: Manchester, with travel in England

Reward: based on experience, to a maximum of £75,000 per annum including pension contributions

Uniac is a growing organisation that provides assurance services to a diverse mix of high quality higher education providers across England.  Data assurance is an important part of our work.  This includes assurance that key returns to HESA, the Office for Students, and UKRI are accurate; that effective preparations are in hand for future data collection requirements; and that data is capable of, and is being, used effectively to support both students and organisational performance.

As well as having responsibility for the oversight, development and promotion of our data assurance team and data assurance services, you will also lead on a range of data related audits. Candidates for this role must have a deep understanding of the rules and definitions that govern each of the sector data returns.  You should also be engaged with the agenda for future data collection in the sector and, beyond data returns, have a keen awareness of how data can be used to enhance organisations’ performance and outcomes.  Ideally, you will also be adept in using query software to identify anomalies in data sets for further examination.

Allied to strong technical data knowledge, we are looking for exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.  This includes being a good listener; being able to assimilate diverse sources of information; and knowing when and how to respond flexibly.  Part of the role will involve support to develop the data audit capabilities of other members of the Uniac team.

Uniac is a demanding place to work, but it is also flexible and supportive.  Staff participation is important to us so you will have the opportunity to play a significant part in our future strategy.  We will actively support your ongoing personal and career development too – whether through participation in sector events or support for further study.

Please note as the role involves HESA and OfS data returns recent and recurrent UK HE experience is essential and in the first instance applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

To express interest in this role, please send a CV and covering email to enquiries@uniac.co.uk by Friday 16 August 2019.  If an informal discussion would be helpful, please email us at this address to arrange a mutually convenient time.
