Uniac has been honoured as finalists of in the 2016 Cyber Security Awards. The winners will be announced at the Cyber Security Awards dinner at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel on Thursday 23rd June.
Uniac’s Cyber Assurance Team led by Ian Musgrave have earned the ‘Not For Profit team of the Year’ finalist status at the Cyber Security Awards. The Cyber Security Awards recognises leading individuals, teams, companies and products in the cyber industry. This includes not-for-profit organisations and start-up companies, as well as global leaders. Organisations and people from all over the world are eligible to submit applications, as long as they have a presence within the United Kingdom.
Uniac's Cyber Assurance team combines expert knowledge with sector context and experience and have provided Cyber Security audits and assurance to around 10 Universities Using a combination of IT staff workshops and detailed tests, each organisation is reviewed against the 20 key (industry-standard) CPNI controls. The results are measured against a 4-point assurance scale which gives IT management and boards an effective insight into current performance and action priorities.
In 2015, Uniac organised a national Cyber Security and Data Protection forum for higher-education IT managers, senior executives and Board members. In addition to keynote speakers on current cyber threats and approaches, this included Uniac outlining the main results and lessons from their cyber audit and assurance work.

The Cyber Security Awards has 10 expert judges, who represent a broad spectrum of different backgrounds and organisations with the cyber industry. Their scores and debate will determine the 2016 Cyber Security Awards winners. The winners will be announced and celebrated during the awards dinner and presentation on June 23rd 2016 at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel. The ceremony will be attended by the finalists, industry leaders, judges and sponsors.Judge Karla Jobling said “To be nominated as a finalist is a great achievement as the competition this year is tough. As always, the judges are looking to reward high achievers within our industry and are looking for those who demonstrate passion and innovation, within cyber security.”
