The University of Manchester

The University of Manchester is one of Britain’s largest universities, both by turnover and student numbers, and one of its pre-eminent research institutions. It attracts world class academics and students and has an unmistakably international atmosphere.

Together with the neighbouring Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Manchester forms Europe’s largest student quarter. It traces its origins back to 1824 and along the way, the atom was first split here and computing originated here too.
